Several scientific studies have shown that some ingredients in marijuana, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), stimulate the release of dopamine and anandamide, the hormone of happiness and the component that generates a feeling of peace, respectively. In addition, the plant can reduce the nerves at the time of a furtive encounter, because it relaxes both psychically and physically, intensifies the perception of the senses, increases libido and strengthens emotional ties. However, which type is better for sex?

There is a lot to be said about smoking a joint before having sex. Many say it paves the way to great sex, while others say it makes everything feel bland. Best weed strains for sex

Let’s start at home. Northern Lights was born from the Netherlands and is an indica dominant strain. That means relaxation is the strong point of this strain. It can help calm both people into a slow sexual mood. Not the kind that will both go crazy for an orgasm, but the kind where it doesn’t really matter if it takes them all night to achieve it.

Northern Lights

Let’s start at home. Northern Lights was born from the Netherlands and is an indica dominant strain. That means relaxation is the strong point of this strain. It can help calm both people into a slow sexual mood. Not the kind that will both go crazy for an orgasm, but the kind where it doesn’t really matter if it takes them all night to achieve it.

  1. Big Bud

The Big Bud is another strain indicates that encourages deep relaxation of the body. You should be aware that Big Bud can make you sleepy, which is generally not a good thing if you are trying to light the room.

So be careful not to smoke too much. Sometimes it’s the more subtle effects of strains like these that make it great for activities like sex. In any case, this is not the strain that makes you feel like you want to tear your partner apart. But it can create a slow and sensual atmosphere.

  1. Harlequin: High in CBD

Harlequin has a 5: 2 CBD: THC ratio, making it a bit unusual compared to most of the marijuana we smoke.

Although it still has some effects from THC, the most overwhelming sensation of this strain comes from the CBD . The kind of sensation where your body feels almost like melted butter, but without the confusion or anxiety that can sometimes result from consuming THC. It’s a great strain to de-stress if you want to get romantic with your partner.

If you don’t have a high CBD strain on hand, you could always go for some CBD oil . Keep in mind that this oil does not have any THC at all, while most high CBD strains contain a little THC.

Durban Poison

The Durban Poison is a strain that has high concentrations of limonene! That is why this strain was included in this list. Why limonene, you might ask? Well, this terpene is responsible for many of the feelings that come with smoking this strain, such as elevated mood and stress relief.

As you can imagine, these two qualities are essential for a positive sexual experience. Having said all that, it is more likely that this strain will put you in a sexual frame of mind that will make you jump on your partner and start taking off all of their clothes.

  1. 5. OG Kush

The OG Kush is a strain rich in pinene, another terpene we recommend eating before sex. Contrary to limonene, pinene energizes. It has the effect of making you more alert, which can make you act more in the moment of the act with your partner. Furthermore, this hybrid strain is perfect for finding the perfect balance between relaxing and energizing effects.

  1. 6. Trainwreck

Finally, our most recommended pre-sex strain. Although this strain can have extremely strong effects (we recommend being careful with dosing), the creativity, energy, and euphoria that users report when consuming Trainwreck makes it ideal for sex. The feeling generally associated with this strain is happiness, and that’s a good precursor to a mind-blowing sexual experience.

Always remember to use marijuana in moderation before going to bed with your partner. You don’t want it to end uncomfortably with the two of you sitting in your underwear eating Doritos. Unless that’s what they like, of course.

Micro dosing throughout the night is always the best way to explore the possibility of being high in a romantic situation. Enjoy these strains, and remember that you can add a little cannabis lube to make things more interesting!

Best type of weed for sex

The relationship between  marijuana use and sexual activity is not yet clear, but a large study led by researcher Michael Eisenberg of the Stanford University School of Medicine in California (USA) strongly suggests that the Regular cannabis use can increase sexual desire . The findings have been published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine.

In previous research, experiments with rats found that the active compound in marijuana causes fluctuations in sexual desire. However, more recent studies suggest that endocannabinoids increase sexual arousal in women , and that the drug improves the sexual experience for both men and women.

In order to gain a better understanding of the impact of marijuana on sexual function, experts examined data from the National Survey of Family Growth, a large-scale investigation conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on fertility, motherhood, family life, marriage,  divorce, and men’s and women’s health.

Marijuana Strains for sex

The survey included questions about the frequency of  sexual intercourse and marijuana use. More specifically, 28,176 heterosexual women and 22,943 heterosexual men were questioned about how many times they had had sex in the past 4 weeks, as well as how often they had used marijuana in the past 12 months.

Participants were between 25 and 45 years old, women were 29.9 years old, and men were 29.5 years old, on average. The researchers included data that had been collected since 2002 and adjusted for potential confounders such as the use of other drugs such as cocaine or alcohol.

In general, 24.5% of men and 14.5% of women reported having used marijuana in the past 12 months. Experts noted an association between how often people smoked marijuana and how often they had sex. More specifically, people who used marijuana had 20% more sex than those who did not use it, and this applied to both genders.

The  women who abstained from marijuana consumed in the last year reported having had sex six times, on average, in the last 4 weeks, while for marijuana users, this number was 7.1 times.

Every woman has different sexual preferences. That said, energizing, but not overly cerebral, cannabis strains are perfect for most women. Euphoria and arousal can increase libido, while nerves relax.

Some women also enjoy varieties that increase their sensitivity to touch. These body-effect strains tend to be softer and more sensual, and can help you get in tune.

The most romantic men will probably also prefer a relaxing strain, similar to that of women. But if they want a more upbeat session, the more stimulating strains will give them the right energy.

Fear and pressure can affect men’s sexual performance. With stage anxiety or panic, it can be difficult to achieve and maintain an erection. This anxiety can also cause them to finish long before satisfying their partner. Most of the strains shown below contain terpenes and cannabinoids, to calm the body and mind.
